People may wonder what a historic masonry structure restoration project has to do with concrete repair – simple – one entire wing of the project or building was constructed with concrete press brick. The former Hillyard High School structure consisted of two separate buildings joined together. The North wing of the building was almost entirely constructed of concrete press brick. The concrete press brick made the restoration process difficult and tedious due to the fact that conventional cleaning methods would severely damage the porous and delicate surface of the concrete brick. Talisman completed the restoration of the structure without additional damage to the concrete brick as well as completely restoring all other masonry elements of the adjoining building. The Agnes Kehoe Apartments are now an integral part of the redevelopment of the historic Hillyard neighborhood in Northeast Spokane.
